Weather is the main driving force to seasonal change & fresh produce can unfortunately become quickly affected.

We understand that sometimes there's not much scope to change menus, but when Mother Nature strikes, sometimes items can become hugely affected quickly.

Keep your eyes peeled on this page to see what should be avoided.

We will continue to see sprouts in low volumes until the end of March due to low volumes.

We are expecting to be limited to loose product for the next month.

We have seen warnings of availability in terms of volume heading into March, we would recommend using alternative apples.

Riso Gallo

For Gallo, sustainability is a concrete project that enhances the value of the entire rice chain from people to the environment. The team don't just produce sustainable rice, but produce rice that sustains!

Promoting the sustainability of a product like rice means acting first of all on the fundamental aspects of its cultivation, whilst not neglecting any subsequent steps in the entire production chain. Rice farms are the key element to work with to help them increase the level of sustainability throughout the products.

In line with EU regulations, which are continually evolving, as well as the regional policies for rural development, the application of concrete actions throughout the community promotes the protection and safeguarding biodiversity of the rice field environment, which also complements the actions funded by the specific measures of the rural development plans.

A project named Operation Pollinator has been a benchmark for multifunctional land management over the past 20 years, this is why it was chosen as the project to redevelop and optimally manage marginal areas of rice fields with the target of sustaining biodiversity and safeguarding all insects which help to pollinate. Companies interested in the project are provided seeds by Gallo in order to plant their first fields.

From 2022, the project sites at Gallo's sustainable farms have been studied in a variety of degree theses, the research has shed light onto the complexity of interactions bwtween the agricultural and natural environments, which has then highlighted the need for the role of the naturalist in the agroecosystem management. With a number of botanical and entomological observations made of particular interest into the sustainable rice chain, whereby Operation Pollinator has various functions including the application of PAC Ecoschema 5.

A plarform has been launched, enabling photos of insects to be sent which have been found in different areas, creating a community of enthusiasts, professionals and experts who then help with their identification. Allowing observations to be made from all over the world, to then be mapped and shared, which contributes to the awareness and knowledge around biodiversity observation.
