Weather is the main driving force to seasonal change & fresh produce can unfortunately become quickly affected.

We understand that sometimes there's not much scope to change menus, but when Mother Nature strikes, sometimes items can become hugely affected quickly.

Keep your eyes peeled on this page to see what should be avoided.

The overwintered British crop has now come to an end, the new season is due to arrive between the 9-12th June, German produce will be seen but prices will be high for this - expect problems to worsen in the near future.

The current high temperatures being seen in Poland is causing issues for the growth of these mushrooms.

Tenderstem is still a difficult time, Spanish and Portugese produce is coming to an end. Kenyan crops are suffering huge losses as result of flooding, the British season is not yet ready.

The British season for parsnips has now come to an end, Spanish produce is inbound but more expensive.

The Dutch season of white asparagus is almost finished, whilst we wait for the Peruvian season to start we are seeing French crops available but at a higher price.

The Tomlinson's rhubarb crop is coming to an end, however we do have some alternative outdoor rhubarb crop available.

Say hello to Annabel's Deliciously British

SUSTAINABILITY

2023 ended with some very exciting news for the team at Annabel’s Deliciously British. After 14 months of interrogation, monitoring and hard work, they gained their B-Corp accreditation!

WHAT IS B-CORP?
B-Corp certification is the only certification that measures a companies social and environmental performance. It proves that a company is excelling in these areas in the present and also commits them to continuing to work on, and improve in these areas in the long-term.

B-Corp Certification is the most rigorous audit social scheme out there, and we are so proud to have achieved this, as it means that we’ve achieved those industry leading standards that we feel are so important.

Annabel’s Deliciously British have always committed to producing the highest quality products with honesty and integrity, in the most ethical and sustainable way possible, to ensure this considers how future generations may be impacted.

“SUSTAINABILITY & QUALITY WITHOUT COMPROMISE. PRESERVING THE COUNTRYSIDE FOR THE FUTURE OF BRITISH FARMING & FOOD.” – ANNABEL
This is all about a better future for British farmers, producers and consumers. But to achieve this, growers need the space to be more dynamic, follow trends and to be creative to fill the gaps in the market that consumers don’t even know exist yet.

What we leave behind matters as much as what we produce so Annabel's are constantly working to produce the highest quality produce, sustainably, without compromising on both taste and the needs of future generations.

Year on year they continuously improve their processes to ensure they have as little impact on the world around us as possible. From using their lake for irrigation to using the most environmentally friendly packaging, to using “wonky” fruit within their own conserves and chutneys, and utilising renewable energies.

Not only do they have B-Corp Certification, they also have One Carbon World Carbon Neutral International Standard. Annabel's won’t stop there, they'll continue to strive for more and to be the best they can be, without compromising the quality of the products!

They are dedicated to driving investment back into the future of the British farming industry, as well as the British people. As well as being equally big advocates for giving back to society. It’s for this reason that they support The Prince’s Trust with every punnet of strawberries sold, and Marie Curie with every bunch of daffodils sold.

“I AM PASSIONATE ABOUT ENSURING THE FUTURE OF THE PLANET FOR EVERYONE, AFTER ALL IT’S FUTURE IS IN OUR HANDS AND IT DESERVES TO BE RESPECTED.” – ANNABEL

SUSTAINABILITY
At Annabel’s Deliciously British, the team care as much about what they produce as that they leave behind, which is why they are so committed to achieving top-notch quality with a sustainable, local supply and believe in a better future for British farmers, producers, and consumers alike.

STRAWBERRY POWER
Making every effort to be carbon neutral, any wasted berries are sent to the packaging supplier’s anaerobic digester – so the biodegradable strawberry punnets (500g) and cardboard trays (1kg) are produced using strawberry power, sourcing inputs wherever possible from Great Britain, and are LEAF, BRC and Red Tractor accredited.

DOING OUR BIT FOR LOCAL WILDLIFE
Creating an environment around the farm that champions the biodiversity of the wildlife living there is as important as creating sustainable farming practices and having zero waste. A few years ago they installed their beehives and also worked on creating bug hotels throughout the farm.

This year, the team have installed Owl Boxes, to provide safe homes for owls and encourage more of them to nest around the farm. Keeping a close eye on these to see which visitors make their home there.

CARBON NEUTRAL
Annabel's are proud to have achieved Carbon Neutral status in August 2023

How fantastic is that?
